Many seek the blessings of God, but few understand the heart of what it means to be blessed according to Christ. In John 13:12–17, Jesus gives us a clear pattern for divine blessing through humble service, forgiveness, and love for one another. This teaching will explore how these Christ-like actions lead to a life that is not only fulfilled but blessed by God Himself.
Many of us have failed to realize that the key to our blessings is what we sow for others. Jesus makes this plain when he says, John 13:13 You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him.
If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.
This is the key to our certain blessings! Learning how to serve others is a sure way to receive God’s blessings. Too often we think of ourselves more highly than we ought to but if we learn to humble ourselves just like Jesus did, we are following his example and he has promised that we will be blessed if we do so.
How many of us have missed the better blessings from God simply because we do not love one another the way he said to love?
