The Five Types of Mothers
All mothers are women, but not all women are mothers
but they have the potential to learn to mature to become mothers. God created women with this ability.
(NKJV) Ge 3:20 And Adam called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.
Any woman can become a mother but not all women are mothers even though they may have children.
A mother is a special type of woman. She
is a woman that has matured into a woman with a different type of mindset than the average woman. A
mother has a loving devotion toward her child. The child becomes the mother's first priority,
even over her own life. No matter the age, a mother is always a mother.
Today we are going to discuss motherhood. We are going to discuss different types of mothers. We are going to discuss the maturing of a woman
into a mother. We will define
5 types of mothers and use biblical examples of each.

THE ASPIRING MOTHER
Hannah
THE ASPIRING MOTHER
- Hannah Hannah
was a married woman who desired to be a mother. Yet, year after year she had hoped for child but one was never given to her. I am sure that Hannah and her husband had tried everything that the new. Finally, Hannah turned to the
only one who could make a difference. Just like Isaac prayed for his wife…
(NKJV) 1 Sa 1:10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the LORD and wept in anguish.
This should be the answer to all aspiring mothers
(NKJV) 1 Sa 1:20 So it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son, and called his name Samuel, saying,
…24 Now when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bulls, one ephah of flour, and a skin of wine, and brought him to the house of the LORD in Shiloh. And the child was young.
Hannah
had desired a son and asked God for one. Then, she did as she had promised God. She kept her vow and gave to the Lord her firstfruit. In exchange for her faithfulness,
blessed her
(NKJV) 1 Sa 2:21 And the LORD visited Hannah, so that she conceived and bore
Why was she so blessed?
See, the preceding verse.
(NKJV) 1 Sa 2:20 And Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife, and say, “The LORD give you descendants from this woman for the loan that was given to the LORD.” Then they would go to their own home.
What will reward
faithfulness to him
This was a godly woman and as a result,
even though she gave up her child at a very early age, the mark she placed on him with her faithfulness to God affected the child and he became one of Israel's greatest prophets.
Though she was not there every day in his life,
she had assured to the one thing that every mother should hold primary for the growth of her children.
(NKJV) Eph 6:4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.
An interesting thing happened to me last week. I asked my mom about my grandfather who died when I was five years old. I asked why I have such an attachment to him and such a commitment to God
having been influenced by his work in ministry. She surprise me with her words by saying perhaps she had marked me
by her thoughts regarding her father and her relationship to him. I remember so very little of him and yet it seems I know so much about him.
this came because of my mother
You might think
the Hannah giving him up for adoption might have shown some lack of love, no this was her great love and trust in God. She loved
her son so much that she put him in the hands of the Lord and the Lord blessed her and Samuel for their faithfulness to him. She trusted God even though the man she entrusted him to had serious flaws.
THE ADOPTION MOTHER
The Daughter of Pharaoh
THE
ADOPTION MOTHER The Daughter of Pharaoh
Mothers who adopt are no less mothers. They participate in the further development of someone else’s child.
(NKJV) Ex 2:1 And a man of the house of Levi went and took as wife a daughter of Levi.
5 Then the daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the river.
8 And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Go.” So the maiden went and called the child’s mother.
10 And the child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son.
Her adoption of him gave him 40 years of protection and

This one mother,
Heb 11:24 By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter,
THE ANTICIPATING MOTHER
Elizabeth & Mary
THE ANTICIPATING MOTHER
- Mothers who are pregnant, expecting and anticipating when their child will be born. I will deal with two mothers in this category.
Elizabeth, mother of John the Baptist and her cousin, Mary, mother of Jesus. An older woman and a younger woman. Both, women of faith.
In fact, we will read
portions of the first chapter of Luke because I think God tells the story better than I can.
(NKJV) Lk 1:1 5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah. His wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.
18 And Zacharias said to the angel, “How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years.”
21 And the people waited for Zacharias, and marveled that he lingered so long in the temple.
24 Now after those days his wife Elizabeth conceived; and she hid herself five months, saying,
26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth,
28 And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!”
34 Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?”
36 Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son
38 Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
39 Now Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, to a city of Judah,
Lk 1:57 Now Elizabeth’s full time came for her to be delivered, and she brought forth a son.
62 So they made signs to his father—what he would have him called.
Lk 1:80 So the child
John will grow to become known as John the Baptist. He
will be the first one that would reveal Jesus to the world as the Lamb of God to take away the sin of the world. Both of these women knew that the child within their womb
was a special child. They believe that God was going to do wonderful things with their children. And He did! Likewise, real mothers recognize that a child is a gift from God. If
you will carry the mentality and have the faith that God will do great things with your child, goes a long way to the reality of that child being more than the average child. It goes to the reality of the child being a Godly child
anticipating the power of God to operate in their life and give them the victory to overcome every obstacle placed in their path. they will recognize
God has given them a divine potential and they can achieve it they will recognize
God does not create losers. Jesus came that we all might have life and have it more abundantly and that specifically means them.
These women
listened to God, and His words were held close in their heart and they shared them with their children so that they would grow up in the knowledge of the Lord’s attention to them. To those anticipating mothers I would say to you,
your responsibilities of a mother have already begun. Not only see to it that you
are eating properly for your physical health but see to it that you take care for your spiritual health so that your child can hear the words of your prayers to God on their behalf. See to it that your child hears songs of praise to Almighty God even now within your womb.
This is not the time to shy away from worship because you are pregnant.
This is the time to be more faithful
so that the child may be at home in the presence of the Spirit of God.
Anticipating mothers! Tend to your child in the womb physically and most importantly spiritually!
THE ACTUAL MOTHER
Mary, Mother of Jesus
THE ACTUAL MOTHER
– Mary, the mother of Jesus Now, we shall see a mother that will nourish the gift that God has given her and help to give birth
to the gifts that are in her child to the world. Mothers listen to me carefully. God created you to give life, not only to a child being born from you, but to help give life to the
divine potential in the child. For remember the word has said:
(NKJV) Ge 3:20 And Adam called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.
Eve means in Hebrew life giver. Women have the power to give life
by giving birth to children and then helping to give birth to the gifts given to the children to give to the world Or they can destroy
by preventing life to come about and the gifts God intended to bless the world with through them.
A Godly mother will not in any way abort the life that is inside of her nor cause an abortion of the divine potential
of her child or the lives of those around her in her family. No matter the consequences to herself,
a Godly mother thinks of the potential of her child and gives her life for the development of that potential. Mary,
more than any other person knew the divine potential of the child she gave birth to. She could have been selfish and kept the child to herself or she could have
submitted to God, putting her trust in him and allow the child to be all God created him to be. She did!
After Jesus was born and the shepherds saw him she was reinforced in her heart regarding his potential
(NKJV) Lk 2:17 Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child.
19
Mary most certainly shared these things with Jesus time and time again
And then again she heard:
34 Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, “Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against
Lk 2:39 So when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own city, Nazareth.
41 His parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover.
45 So when they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking Him.
48 So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and
Being a mother is not easy sometimes. When God has a plan,
a mother submits to God, and allows God to fulfill his plan for her child. Even though she might not understand. My mother tried many times to keep me from going into ministry. She had seen the pain and agony her father experience from the mistreatment of the people he was leading.
She did not want me to have to go through what she saw him go through.
Nevertheless, she stood to the side and allowed God's will to be done.
Mary did the same
(NKJV) Jn 19:25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus His mother, and His mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.
Mary
let him become what God intended for him to become even to a death on the cross. Aren't we glad she did not try to interfere!
THE ALWAYS MOTHER
Eunice
THE ALWAYS MOTHER
- mothers who have raised their children properly
(NKJV) Dt 7:9 “Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;
A mother who has raised her child never ceases to pray
to God for them. The power of her prayer always affects the life of her child because God honors her faithfulness and her commitment to him. Remember Miss Radford.
Those of you who are mothers, remember to keep the faith
and honor God, not just for your own sakes but for the sake of your children's children. Our examples: Eunice – mother; Lois – grandmother of Timothy
In these two women,
we see the power of a mother never wanes. The faith of a mother and her influence extend through several generations. Look at the words Paul told Timothy:
(NKJV) 2 Ti 1:2 To Timothy, a beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
3 I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day,
6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.
This mother
Enuice and grandmother Lois, were powerful in their faith and their faith affected a son and grandson.
I encourage every mother to let your faith be
seen by your children for that faith has the ability to be passed down through the generations as you, as a mother give birth from one generation to another generation of life.
Mothers Are Powerful!
Mothers are powerful!
Never let anyone diminish your role. You have the power to change the face of the
earth and the destiny of thousands of people through the children you give birth to. Remember,
(NKJV) Ps 127:3 Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward.
They have been given on loan to you as a gift from God. Raise them up by providing a true example of woman of God so that they will not confuse their identity
with those of the world and fail to achieve God’s purpose for their lives. Remember,
God created every child with the divine potential Help them have a vision of the potential God has given them and then exemplify your faith in God
in tangible ways so that they may see it not only in your words but by your deeds. Never cease praying for them, never,
even when they go off on their own. No matter how old
no matter how right or wrong
no matter how good or bad
no matter how smart are not
remember, you are always a mother!
Help your child give birth to the divine potential God has placed in them. Always trusting in
God, who is able to accomplish the purpose he gave to them and honor your faith in him. Have faith in God to save them from their own errors
Pray for their forgiveness even when they don't know they need it
As a mother, never give up hope always knowing
God will honor your faithfulness to a thousand of your generations
Now all mothers please stand I will pray for you
