Scripture speaks much of hell, with Jesus raising the subject more than any other biblical voice. Jesus makes it clear that many Christians will not make it into the kingdom of heaven. He says that believing is not enough. One must believe enough to do the will of God and produce fruit to the glory of God. This proves one is indeed a child of God. Apart from this, many are presumptuously believing they are safe from the fires of hell. Matthew 7:21 (ESV): Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Jn 3:36 (ESV) — 36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. What are we to conclude from these two scriptures? Those who believe on Jesus Christ and are obedient to do the will of the Father who is in heaven are the only one who will make it into the kingdom.. James gives it to us very succinctly. Jas 2:24 (ESV) — 24 You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. To be saved, you must believe in Jesus enough that you obey the word of God.
