Whose Child Would You Rather Be? A Child Of Man Or A Child Of God?

Whose Child Would You Rather Be?

A Child Of Man Or A Child Of God?

Scripture Support:

Lk 3:23

Mt 1:18

Considering the above Scriptures, who is Jesus' father?

Mt 3:16–17

Mk 9:7

Considering the above Scriptures, who is Jesus' father?

Jesus had to decide whose child he would rather be. The first 30 years of his life, Jesus was known as? Matt 13:55; John 6:42  What was the result of their not recognizing who His Father was?

Then he went to his baptism. Let’s review that once again:

Mt 3:16–17

What comes after verse 17?

Mt 4:1–11

Why was he taken into the wilderness? Vs3.

What is he being tested about?

The last verse proves the result of his accepting who he really was. When he passed the test, what happened?  Vs 11

Why did the angels come and minister to him?

Heb 1:13–14

Ministering spirits” means their God-given purpose is to serve, assist, and help those who will inherit salvation—that is, believers in Christ (the saints).

Who will inherit salvation? Who does John 1:12-13 say they are?

The confirmation is in Lk 11:1–2

What is the context here? (How to pray)

We will continue reading to see what one of the most important privileges of being a child of God. Lk 11:5–13

A Prodigal Son

A Young Man Recognizes His Father

Come to Your Senses (Luke 15:17-18)

Jesus told a story about a son who left home and lost everything.

The turning point: He realized who his father was—and what he was missing.

Many today are living far from God, forgetting their true identity.

Question: Have you come to your senses? Do you know who God says you are?

The Blessings of Being a Child of God

  • Access and Privilege

    • Romans 8:17

  • Confident Prayer

    • Matthew 7:9–11 “What man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? … How much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!”

      • As children, we can approach God with confidence.

      • He delights to hear and answer the prayers of His children (see also 1 John 5:14-15).

  • Unconditional Love

    • 1 John 3:1 “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!”

      • God’s love is not based on performance—it is the secure love of a perfect Father.

  • Security and Assurance

    • Romans 8:38-39 “Nothing… shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

      • Children of God are eternally secure in His hand.

  • Purpose and Inheritance

    • Ephesians 1:3 “Blessed… who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.”

      • As God’s children, we have purpose, hope, and an eternal inheritance.

  • Why Settle for Less?

    • The prodigal son settled for life among the pigs when he could have a seat at his father’s table.

  • Many today settle for shame, emptiness, and separation from God.

  • Why settle for being a servant when you can be a son or daughter?

Embrace Your True Identity

  • God is not offering you just a new religion, but a new relationship.

  • You can come home today—confess your need, trust Jesus, and become a child of God.

  • Are you living in your true identity as God’s child—or are you settling for less?

  • Will you come to your senses and come home?
