Ro 8:15–17 (NKJV) —
Abba Father:
The Name That Changes Everything!
When you truly understand the name Abba Father, you rise above all of the concerns people of the world have
-
Adam was created for a unique personal relationship with God,
but he lost it. -
He walked with God.
He talked with God. Everything he needed was provided for him by God. -
But
his sin separated him from God. -
Satan was made Prince of the world, and
evil entered the world. -
Man lost dominion.
-
-
-
However, as promised by God, in
the course of time, Christ re-established that relationship, but even more, He elevated it!
-
Jn 1:12–13 (NKJV) —
God took
John 20:22 (NKJV): And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the
God put His Holy Spirit into us
-
-
-
Those who have accepted Christ are
no longer just plain human beings. They are born again of the Spirit of God and are now unique on earth as Children of God!
-
-
Ga 4:6-7
-
-
-
Abba Father
– means a unique relationship. It is the name that changes everything. What does this name represent? -
It is an intimate, personal, affectionate word for Father. Like “Daddy, Papa, Pappy, My Father, My Daddy” or other words indicating a closeness.
-
It is
a term of trust, love, and endearment.
-
-
God is no longer
impersonal to us; he is not just God, but Abba God, our daddy. -
No religion teaches the people to speak of God as “Father”; only
followers of Christ are told to do this. Only Christians! -
It is a
unique relationship not experienced by any other people who have a God. They may refer to him by many names but never by the name of Father. -
The Jews had many titles for him,
but they did not call him father until the 10th century. However, almost every prayer from the lips of Jesus began with him addressing God as “Father.” -
That is one of the reasons many of the Jews hated him. They felt he had no right
to call Almighty God his father.
-
-
We are told to do it because the sacrifice of Christ
has justified us and has given us a special relationship with God. Because of Christ, we have been made Holy!
-
-
Now get this!
-
-
Gal 4:7
-
-
-
-
The one and only Son of God gave up his holy righteousness to take on all our sinfulness and made us holy as he is holy and made us also sons of God.
-
He did not leave off with just making us sons; he also made us joint heirs with him.
-
-
We have been given an inheritance in part of the kingdom of God.
-
Think about that!
This is the greatest inheritance that anybody can have! -
Everything Christ possesses is given to us!
-
-
-
-
Lk 12:32 (NKJV) —
-
-
-
This is a truth we must come to realize to the fullness!
-
Most of us just don’t get it!
We just don’t get it! -
He did more than just
take away our sins; he made us his children and gave us an incomprehensible inheritance!
-
-
If we
would just recognize more of what Christ did for us, we would realize that we are more… than … conquerors!
-
-
-
-
-
Satan and the rest of the world
do not want us to get a full understanding of who we are. -
The world gets us caught up with other definitions of ourselves. Our nationality, our race, our tribe, our cultural status, and all other ways of dividing us. Everything he can do to keep us from realizing who we are.
-
But,
Christ wants us to see ourselves as Children of God and that we will cry out, “Abba, Father.”
-
-
We are unique as his children!
-
-
1 Pe 2:9 (NKJV) —
The
-
The Children of Satan
-
The Children of God
-
-
There are
only two kinds of people in the world. Satan has done well to conceal this truth. -
Children of Satan
–
-
-
Jn 8:44 (NKJV) —
-
-
-
Children of God
– Who we are! We must come to recognize who we really are, children of God!
-
-
Jn 1:12 (NKJV) —
Ga 4:6–7 (NKJV) —
-
-
-
-
Now the Almighty God, the creator of the universe,
not just God to us, but our Abba Father! -
Our Daddy!
-
-
This is a big deal!
-
-
-
-
-
Jesus
even taught us to pray -
Mt 6:9 (NKJV) —
9 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. -
We need to take time to consider what this really means!
-
-
-
Ro 8:15–17 (NKJV) —
15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”
-
-
We have not been given the spirit of fear because we have been adopted as children of God.
Why should we fear anything when our father is always protecting us? He said he would never leave us! -
Because of the sacrifice of Christ, we have a right to call him not just God but “Abba,
Father.” -
The Greek implies when we cry out, “Abba Father,” it is a name that has the ring of ecstasy! It is like a shout for joy!
-
We can be excited about that!
-
Like a child crying out when they see their parent coming for them,
“Daddy!” -
That’s my daddy!
-
-
-
Because he is our daddy, we don’t need to
doubt that he will receive us or have any questions about approaching him when we have messed up. -
What parent does not show love to their children no matter what they have done?
-
Heb 4:16 (NKJV) —
16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
-
-
We must learn what the true meaning of this honor that Christ has given us!
-
-
-
-
1 Jn 3:1 (NKJV) — 1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called
children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. -
He loved
us so much he adopted us when he had a son of his own. -
We needed a father, but he did not need sons.
-
-
He loved us
so much he adopted us while we were defective. -
We
really had some serious mental challenges. -
We were just lumps of clay
and sin rolled up in one clump, but still he adopted us and made us equal to his son.
-
-
-
Ga 4:6–7 (NKJV) — 6 And because you are
-
-
-
He
loved us so much that he paid a very expensive cost. -
He had to give up his only son in such a tragic way to pay the price so that we could be adopted.
-
His only son took on our sinful
nature and transferred his perfect righteousness to us. -
Then he died to pay the price so that we would eternally belong to him.
-
-
He loved
us so much he adopted us while we were still his enemies. -
And there were many of us. People don’t adopt as many as
God did, especially if they are the enemy's children.
-
-
He loved
us so much he adopted us while we were children of the devil. -
He brought us into the family of heaven
-
-
He loved
us so much that he adopted us and made us joint heirs with his perfect only son! -
He didn’t have to do it, but he did!
-
We did not deserve any consideration.
-
Luke 12:32 (NKJV): Do not fear, little flock, for
it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
-
-
He loved
us so much that Jesus told us to use the name he used when he prayed, Abba father!
-
-
Lk 11:1–2 (NKJV) —
-
-
He adopted us, and
gave us a new name, a new nature. He gave us his name, Christians! -
We need to learn to live like our name represents.
We are the Anointed Ones.
-
-
-
-
We are his children! We can cry
Abba father! -
We can be confident that everything we need will be given to us,
Mt 6:32 (NKJV) — 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. -
David said:
Ps 37:25 (KJV) — 25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. -
We just don’t have anything to worry about!
-
-
-
-
-
-
Mt 7:9–11 (NKJV) —
9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
-
-
-
-
-
And in the world to come a glorious
inheritance for eternity!
-
-
Ro 8:16–17 (NKJV) —
-
-
-
-
(Please note, provided we are willing to
suffer for the name of Christ! We will take this up later.)
-
-
-
-
-
-
Jn 14:2–3 (NKJV) —
2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
-
-
-
-
-
Mt 23:9 (NKJV) —
9 Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven.
-
-
-
-
Because of this great love, we
can be confident that if we call on “Abba Father,” our Father, our daddy, whatever we ask for, he will give it to us!
-
-
-
