Review of
The Danger of Being Spiritual
and Not Being Saved!
Mt 7:21–23 (NKJV) — 21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
Summarize the two conditions listed here as to why they will not enter the kingdom of heaven.
He is at this time telling them about the kingdom of heaven and has told them to be careful to follow the narrow road 7:13-14, then he warns them about false prophets (7:15-20), who will try to deceive them, false disciples (7:21-23), whom we are talking about, and building your lives on false foundations (7:24-27).
How does Jesus say you can tell the difference between what is true and what is false?
Mt 7:20 (NKJV) — 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
Jesus tells Nicodemus what is first necessary to enter the kingdom of heaven. John 3:1-6
What do we learn from John 3:1-6? Being spiritual is not enough!.
Can a human being alone produce the fruit that God desires? NO!
Major Points of the Lesson
-
To assure your salvation, you must be born again of the Holy Spirit
-
You must abide in Christ to produce fruit to the glory of God
-
You must show the fruit of the spirit
-
You must deny yourself and walk in spirit.
1
To Assure Your Salvation,
You Must Be Born Again Of
The Holy Spirit
John 3:1–6 1 There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”
3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”
5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

You Must Abide In Christ
To Produce Fruit
To The Glory Of God
John 15:1–8 1 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.
2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

You Must Show
The Fruit Of The Spirit
Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
4
You Must Deny Yourself
And Walk In Spirit.
John 14:1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.
2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
John 14:15–21
15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—
17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.
19 “A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also.
20 At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.
21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”
John 14:31
31 But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave Me commandment, so I do. Arise, let us go from here.
