The Most Overlooked And Rejected Blessing In Scripture

Study Outline

Jn 8:31–32 (NKJV) — 31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

This passage carries a message you should keep in mind as you review the sermon. When you come to know who you are in Christ, you will begin to experience a new life of freedom from the cares of this world, overcoming challenges that others are constantly enslaved to.

My desire is that you not only hear the sermon but also allow it to shape your walk with God. So, I prepared this study guide to help you get the most benefit from the lesson by providing the scriptures on which the message is built.

Now, use it in this way:

  • Listen to the sermon on YouTube with an open heart.

  • Pause whenever I mention a scripture or when the Holy Spirit brings one to mind, and consider it carefully and relate it to the topic. This is God’s direct way of speaking to you.

  • Look up each passage for yourself. Even if you already know it, read it again, and the context around it.

  • Read slowly and let each Word settle in your heart, giving the Holy Spirit time to renew your thinking.

  • Follow up with any additional scriptures personally, as the Holy Spirit leads you specifically.

As you do this, I believe the Holy Spirit will begin to deepen and enlighten your understanding so that you come to know the truth of who and what God created you to be in Christ. He will then begin conforming you more and more to the image and likeness of Christ so that you can reach the ultimate goal of achieving your divine potential.

When God’s truth becomes alive in you, you will begin to walk with a new confidence—a confidence that comes from the Holy Spirit of God, a confidence that reminds you that you are a child of God, created to be free, not enslaved according to the dictates of this perishing world.

Think of it like this: When a doctor prescribes medication, you take it as directed because you trust it will help you heal over time. The Word of God is far more certain. It shall accomplish the purpose for which God sent it, and His Word is Life and Health to all of our flesh.

Finally, my prayer is that you hear the sermon as a diagnosis of the spiritual condition we all suffer with. And may this study guide serve as the prescription the Holy Spirit has given me to give to you, Something you can take in faith as His medication, for your edification and transformation.

Message Summary

This message declares that the greatest blessing in all of Scripture—our adoption as children of God—is also the most overlooked and rejected. Many believers live defeated because they do not know who they are. Hosea says we perish for lack of knowledge, and Jesus offers us the right to become children of God. This new identity is not based on the flesh, the past, or human opinion, but on God’s sovereign choice. Yet many still cling to the world’s labels instead of God’s truth. When we accept Christ, we receive a new creation identity, a spiritual mindset, and a place in God’s family that carries authority, honor, and security.

As children of God, we possess greater dignity than earthly kings, greater inheritance than the world can offer, and a destiny that stretches into eternity. God calls His children precious, blessed, His jewels, His heirs, and even writes His name upon them. He grants them authority, prepares an eternal home, seats them with Christ, and promises a crown of glory and a robe of righteousness. The world may despise us, but heaven celebrates us. Angels serve God, but His children reign with Him. Though our full identity is not yet visible, it will be revealed when Christ returns. Every person must choose: life or death, heaven or hell, to remain a child of man—or to receive the right to become a child of God.
