2026 is fast approaching.
We have no idea what’s in store for us… but the Lord not only knows
but has a plan and promises for us!
He can’t break his word.
So as long as we do what we’re supposed to… that promise is ours!
What are the promises?
Our God Is A Promise Keeper!
What has he promised us?
We can trust the promises from the Lord.
Hebrews 10:23
23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
The God who can see 2027 just like he can see 2026… he has given us promises to give us comfort
in a future we can’t see yet!
You Don’t Have To Know The Future If You Know His Promises!
We can learn to trust our will.
or we can learn to trust his.

Let’s keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word.
The Bible Is Full Of Promises For God’s People!
And we are here in December honoring Christmas…. the time of the birth of Christ.
and even with that event…
we have even more promises we can stand on… because of the birth of our Savior.
Let’s talk about 2 promises we have because of Christmas!

This isn’t just a story of a child being born.
This is confirmation of new promises!
Unbreakable Promise #3
- We Will Never Have To Face Our Problems Alone, Because He Is With Us!
Matthew 1:23
23 “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”—which means, “God with us.”
Immanuel - not a “name.”
His name was Jesus, more specifically Yeshua.
it was more of a description of what he would be.
Immanuel Means “God With Us”
God among us…
John 1:14 talks about the word (Christ) being made flesh…
When the word was made flesh….
this is when he was born into the world. in a manger.
the son of God.
Our God no longer ONLY sat high and looked low. he came down as a form of love
to forgive our sins.
to conquer death and the grave.
to reestablish his relationship with us.
He was God with us.
but it wasn’t just for the time Jesus would be here.
when he ascended to heaven… that gave room for the Holy Spirit.
and THAT is how the story continued.
We Still Carry The Spirit Of The Lord With Us!
John 14:18-20
18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
The world will not see him anymore… but we will…
why is that?
Because we have access to the Spirit of the Lord.
And because HE is alive… so are we!
He was with us, and will still be with us!
There is nowhere we can go that the Lord will not be with us.
The Lord was with his people before… but now he could dwell within!
And because he is with us…
he is with us during our dark times. he is with us during our difficult days.
during our triumphs during our failures
when we feel like we can’t go on he is still there
And BECAUSE he is still there… it takes us to promise #4 Unbreakable Promise #4
- Because Of HIM, Our Enemy Is Defeated!
Let’s talk about the power of Jesus.
Let’s read something we discussed already.
John 1:1-5
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.
This is talking about how Jesus was there all along in the beginning.
again in v. 14 it talks about how the Word became flesh and lived with us.
and those who received him were given the right to become children of God.
Verse 3
3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.
The light shines in the darkness… HE is the light.
but the darkness has not understood it.
This is a very powerful verse…but we have to understand it. Let’s check other translations.
NIV - The darkness has not understood it. ESV - the darkness has not overcome it.
I like how the NLT reads.
John 1:5 (NLT)
5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.
In a world full of darkness.
in a world full of sorrow. in a world full of pain.
There is a light.
and that darkness
can not put it out.
that darkness
can not defeat it. that darkness
can’t do nothing with it!
We Are Protected In Our Darkest Times Because Of Christ!
What is darkness going to do with you when Christ is there?
If Darkness Wants To Take You Out, It Has To Take Out The Light In You! It Will NEVER Be Able To Do That!
Our bible has countless promises written in it for God’s people. Keep these 2 promises on your mind when you celebrate Christmas.
remember it’s bigger than gifts.
it’s bigger than eating and time with family. while those things are always fun.
there is a REASON for the SEASON!
Remember when you play and sing songs of Christmas… you’re not just singing about Christmas…
you’re singing the PROMISES of Christmas. you’re speaking PROMISES of Christmas!
When you hear songs like:
O Come, O Come Emmanuel Hark! The Herald Angels Sing O Holy Night
Joy To The World
Now Behold The Lamb
Remember these aren’t just Christmas songs…
They are songs of a promise.
A promise that God would always be with us. And a promise that darkness is defeated.
And a promise that the King is here!
We no longer need be separated from the Lord. We now have him living on the inside of us!
