Message Title:

“Many Hands Make Light Work!” (Making An Impact pt. 3)

1 Corinthians 12:12

12 The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body.

Each of us has many parts to our bodies… but they all make up us.

Our hands and feet…while different…

Page 4 of 6

all make up “us.”

1 Corinthians 12:14-17

14 Now the body is not made up of one part but of many. 15 If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body.

This is saying that with each of our bodies… our parts are part of us.

Our hands can’t decide they don’t want to be part of our body.

16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?

Each part has a job. Each part belongs to us.

That job is VITAL for the body.

Each Part Of The Body Is Important!

If we have 10 fingers,

do we say that’s 9 more than we need?

1 Corinthians 12:18-20

18 But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body.

God gave us a lot when creating us. He arranged what we have. HE decided what goes where. Eyes, ears, nose, hands, feet.

1 Corinthians 12:21-26

21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” 22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24 while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its

Page 4 of 6

parts should have equal concern for each other. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

Each part is important.

This goes the same with how the Lord has organized the Body of Christ.

1 Corinthians 12:27

27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

We are EACH part of the body of Christ. and that body has different parts. and each part is important.

Romans 12:4-5

4 Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

This means that you have something.

That the person next to you has something.

but it’s TOGETHER that we make the body work.

This is something that applies to us all. Some of us might be feeling:

less gifted less able less worthy unimportant

But scripture is telling you that you are NONE of these things.

The Church Can Only Operate If Enough Members Operate In Their Function

What happens is certain members have to “cover” for others. certain members have to do double work.

The hand has to be an eye because the eyes want to be a foot. but a hand will never be an eye.

Page 4 of 6

When the foot doesn’t do right, the whole body limps. So we have to USE what the Lord has given us.

It’s so the WHOLE body can work the way it’s supposed to!

Romans 12:6-8

6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. 7 If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; 8 if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

We have different gifts…

we’ve taken a gifts test!

we know what our gifts are!

If someone’s gift is prophesying…let him USE it! If someone has serving…let him USE it! Teaching…DO IT!

But the Lord isn’t asking you to build a house alone.

But it’s not just about what YOU can do… What we WE do??

We Get More Done When We Work Together!

Ecclesiastes 4:9

9 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work:

This means you can have a decent return on your own… but you can have a good one with another.

We get more done when we work together!

If that is the case…

We should be working to get others involved also!

1 Thessalonians 5:11

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

This is where those who understand about the Body of Christ.

Page 4 of 6

those who understand about gifts and serving… to encourage someone else to do the same thing!

Don’t Overlook Your Ability To Get Others Involved!

It’s great to hear a message from the Bishop or Pastor… or the ministers…

or receive an email from your church asking you to help.

But it’s another thing when YOU ask your friends. your family.

those you KNOW who need to be using their gifts.

Hebrews 10:24

24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.

We are part of the Body of Christ. it’s a LOT of parts…

and we need the body functioning correctly. when one part gets weak…

we ALL suffer!

Let’s Normalize Encouraging And Helping Others To Serve!

We had a ministry fair last week.

many of you stepped in and signed up for a ministry.

Today we are ending early for the same reason. if you have NOT been in there…

we need you.

we need your gift.

the body of Christ needs you. if you HAVE been in there…

Page 4 of 6

is.

you can still take a look at some of the things we have.

you can sign up for multiple ministries to SEE where the best fit for you

Finally, if you’ve been in there.

Help us by encouraging and taking someone in there who hasn’t.
